Baby changing facilities

Baby changing facilities are available in the toilets nearest the museum entrance.

BSL

BSL interpretation is available for talks and tours.

Carers

The museum is free for everyone, so carers are welcome to join the people they support on their visit.

Disabled parking

There is blue badge parking on Gandhi Way (across from the main entrance), and also on Alfred Gelder Street nearby.

We also have limited parking for minibuses. Call 01482 616 661 to book. 

The nearest larger car parks are on Osbourne Street and a multistory on Market Place.

Lighting

Some parts of the museum are a bit darker, including: the carriage gallery and bicycle gallery upstairs.

Roads and paths

High Street is a cobbled street. The museum has step-free access, and there is a dropped kerb near the main entrance.

Streetlife Museum also has a street scene set up inside with cobbled flooring (in part of the ground floor gallery).

Toilets

There are two sets of toilets at Streetlife Museum. One near the entrance and one at the back of the museum opposite the sweet shop. The accessible toilet is near the entrance.

The nearest Changing Places toilet is at the Guildhall. There is another Changing Places toilet in the Wilson Centre. Please ask at the reception for directions.

Wheelchairs

The museum is accessible for wheelchair users. There is step-free access at the front of the building and a lift to the first floor galleries. We also have a manual wheelchair available to borrow, just ask at reception.

Some parts of the museum are only accessible via steps, such as the signal box and the platform above the train.
