Baby change

A baby change facility is available in the toilets situated in the Roman gallery, at the back of the museum.

Carers

The museum is free for everyone, so carers are welcome to join the people they support on their visit.

Disabled parking

You’ll find blue badge parking on Gandhi Way and Alfred Gelder Street (opposite the White Hart pub).

Short stay pay and display parking is available at Lowgate car park on Wilberforce Drive, just a five-minute walk away.

We also have limited minibus parking available. If you need this, please get in touch to book before you visit.

Lighting

Some areas of the museum can be quite dark, including: the Fossil, Prehistoric, Iron Age, Celtic World and Anglo-Saxon galleries.

Roads and paths

High Street is a cobbled street with a paving stone pavement. It has dropped kerbs at the Museums Quarter entrances.

Toilets

There is a set of toilets (including an accessible toilet) at the entrance to the museum, near the shop.

There are more toilets (including a baby change facility) in the Roman gallery at the back of the museum.

The nearest Changing Places toilet is on the ground floor of the Guildhall. Please ask at the reception for directions.

Wheelchairs

The museum is accessible for wheelchair users, with step-free access at the front of the building and two lifts between floors. Lifts are situated near the front and back of the museum, next to the stairs.

We also have a manual wheelchair available to borrow.
