On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November, Queen Victoria and her Consort Prince cordially invite you to join them at the Hull Museums Quarter for a splendid Victorian Christmas celebration.
The Victorians transformed Christmas establishing many of the Christmas traditions we know and love today. Join us and immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas past with a wonderful selection of activities including:
- Victorian and Dickensian Characters (BSL)**
- Children’s Victorian fancy dress competition - Get involved in our Christmas event by dressing as a Victorian. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert will award a family ticket for 4 people for Cinderella at Hull New Theatre to the best dressed each day! The competition will be judged at 11.45am each day in the Streetlife Museum on the street scene. Please arrive there in time if you would like to enter the competition.

- Food and drink stalls
- Market stalls

*Entry to the event is free but a small number of activities including the horse and carriage rides and carousel rides will be charged for. Charges will also apply for food and drink and stall produce. Please note that some activities have limited availability and will be cash only.
**BSL - a number of the storytelling sessions and short character performances will feature British Sign language Interpretation.

How to make a simple Victorian child’s costume
A Victorian boy
- Dark trousers, shorts
- Plain top (neutral dark or white) with a tea towel or headscarf neckerchief or Plain shirt (neutral dark or white) with a waistcoat
- Hat (flat cap or plain baseball cap) optional
A Victorian Girl
- Dark coloured or floral skirt or dress
- Plain apron or white fabric with a waist tie
- Small blanket or scarf shawl
- Mop cap or bonnet made from a standard straw hat and ribbon optional
