Find your creative spark

Whether you’re in your teens or your twenties, get inspired and get creative with Hull Museums. There are lots of ways for you to learn and take part across our venues.

Future Ferens (18–25)

If you’ve ever wanted to get hands-on behind the scenes of a thriving art gallery – this is your chance! Future Ferens is a volunteer group of young creatives, curators and promoters. Together they devise and produce a whole range of events and exhibitions at Ferens Art Gallery. (With our support, of course!) It’s free to join, and we have regular member meet ups throughout the year.

Flourish with Ferens

Join our monthly creative sessions for children and young people. Organised with and for disabled and neurodivergent visitors, the group is welcoming, friendly and relaxed. Flourish happens once a month (on a Saturday) in The Studio at Ferens Art Gallery. Session themes alternate between art and music. So far we’ve had drumming, painting, collage, songwriting and printing.

Rediscovering Ferens – Identity Exhibition

Rediscovering Ferens was an exhibition co-curated with young people. We worked with Future Ferens as well as young people from Hull’s Warren Youth Project.

The project focused on themes of identity. Young people chose artworks that resonated with them from our permanent collections. They then made their own creative responses and wrote interpretation labels. These responses were displayed alongside the original artworks as part of a special exhibition.
